All of our dogs and cats are in foster homes and we have no paid staff.  If you have questions concerning a specific animal,  PLEASE fill out an application and the foster parent will be in touch.  We will not arrange any home visits with any of our dogs and cats until your application is processed.  Please understand our foster parents are precious to our 2nd Chance family; without them we cannot function, so we do our best to not burden them with multiple appointments.  Our foster parents will choose their top 3 applications and arrange home visits with these applicants.  The adopter will be chosen at that time.  The process can take anywhere from a week to a month.  We want to make sure our little furry ones are placed in their "forever home" and never have to go through a rehoming again!





 


Hey I am little black cat.  Now you may say there are tons of black cats and that would be true but my mom says me and my sissy are one of a kind!  We were taped shut in a box with our 2 other siblings and placed next to the dumpster at the Harrisburg Fire Department.  Lucky for us one of the firefighters saw the box move and brought it inside.  When they cut the tape off they found us in the box!  We were not in good shape.  BUT we were lucky.  Our foster daddy is a firefighter and he called our foster mommy and she is the director of 2nd Chance!  She came and got us and took us straight to the vet who checked us out, took blood, made sure we didn't have anything bad.  Gave us medicine to get rid of these annoying little things called fleas and before we could blink mom had us home and was giving us warm formula out of a bottle!!  It was yummy and we got to stay in the kitten room with some other kittens!!  We have lots of fun on our cat tree and playing with our friends but our favorite thing is getting cuddle time with mom and our pur machines are really loud!  It always makes mom laugh.  She says we will get forever families and they will love us.  I hope she is right.  Its a little scary but she says not to worry she will make sure we are well loved!

Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to 
families with children under the age of 5.  We do not adopt dogs to renters.  Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.



 



A pet is a lifetime commitment.  The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners.  We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs.  Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!
